Credit Cards

When I was at Michigan, I was that typical college student that they talk about being irresponsible with credit cards.  I know that to some people that might be a shock because I tend to be a relatively responsible person.  But I was away from home and it was really easy to rack up the bills on the credit card and just pay the minimums every month (if that).

So I looked at my situation seriously over the summer and came up with a plan of action.  I was going to pay off the credit card with the smaller balance and then work on paying off the card with the larger balance.  Whenever I have extra money, it goes to the credit cards.  I already have student loan debt so I'd rather not have any credit card debt when I'm done with law school...So if you are wondering how I am paying these things off, it's with the loans that I took out, I am going to have to pay back the loans no matter what I use it for, so I could either go buy a ton of new clothes or I could pay off the new clothes I bought it college!  I decided on the latter...

The whole purpose of this post is because I paid off COMPLETELY one of my cards today!  I feel so accomplished and so much less stressed!!  I cannot wait until the other one is completely paid off and I don't have that hanging over my head!

Anyway...back to reading about contracts...

Fall Colors

On Sunday, Cassie and I went down to her parent's house and then we all went up American Fork Canyon to Cascade Springs.  The colors were so pretty and it was nice to get out of the Salt Lake smog!

Here are some pictures (stolen from Steph! :))

Have a great week!

1L Wives Club

So there is this sweet girl who sent out an email to the class of 2011 at the law school. She wanted to make a club for the Wives of the 1L students. Which makes sense to me because I rarely see Cassie, I were her husband (or something like that) she might feel a little left out or lonely. So I can see how a club for the wives of law students would be awesome.

The way she worded the email set of a fire storm at school. We have this Open Forum which is basically people just talking and ranting on stuff...somehow her message got on the open forum and people have been going crazy. I think that it is a completely respectable idea and would be a great support for anyone who is feeling a little but left out...

It did make me think about my own values, which have been challenged a lot lately, by myself and others.

I believe that I am an integral part of society and my worth is not based on whether or not I am married. Being married for time and eternity is very important to me but it does not consume my life, nor will it when I am married. I believe that a husband and wife BOTH bring things to a marriage and they should be equally respected (it says this in the Book of Mormon, Bible and D&C!).

When I have children it is going to be a hard decision for me and will be based on what is best for my family but I am not opposed to going back to work and have my husband stay home or vice versa. I do not want a nanny running my children's lives and I will be a large (or the entire) part of my children's lives, because that is as important to their well-being as it is mine.

Women who chose to stay home should be respected for their decision. Being a stay at home mom is one of the hardest jobs that exists! Ultimately, I would love to be a stay at home mom, but if that is not what is best for me or my family, I will not sacrifice my good paying job as an attorney to stay at home--just because I really want to.

Anyway, that is what is going on in law school today! Hope everyone else is having a great day!

New things

So I've been in law school for almost a month and I really really love it! Things are going really well and I'm loving being in school again. It has been really tiring becuase I am not used to having to use my brain for anything, but now I'm using it all day so it makes me more tired.

I do make sure that I make time for the other things in life. I like going to FHE and talking about things other than law school (even if its the LSAT with Steve and Loren!). We went on a really great hike tonight, not too steep and hard but it was fun to climb around the rocks. We saw Donut Falls and just hung out and chatted...

I got my haircut last Friday and I love it! Here is a picture of it:

That's all I've got for now!!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

The Missionaries: The FINAL Episode

It seems like I have been meeting with the missionaries forever.  Last Wednesday was my last appointment with them!  It was a great lesson and I am so thankful for having them in my life to teach me about the Gospel.  They are amazing young men and are going to finish out their missions and be great successful people and wonderful members of the Church.

I was really sad when they were leaving, Elder Langton, gave me his address (for his mission, not his home address) so that I can write him.  I am really going to miss them!!

I guess it's time to start figuring stuff out for myself, I do have a calling and other responsibilities, but I am thankful for them and every single thing that they have done for me.

I'll miss you, Elders!!

Quotes

I get a daily email with "inspirational" quotes from MyDailyInsights.com  and they have had some pretty good ones lately that I thought I would share!:

The road to happiness lies in two simple principles:
find what it is that interests you and that you can do well,
and when you find it put your whole soul into it-
every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have.
John D. Rockefeller III

See that any time you feel pained or defeated, it is only because you insist on clinging to what doesn't work.  Dare to let go and you won't lose a thing except for a punishing idea.

St George

This past weekend I went to St George with some friends and we had an amazing time!  It really was something that I needed in my life.  We left Friday night and got down to Nicole's parent's condo/house around midnight.

The next day we were going to get up early and go to Zions to go on a hike, but we slept until 11!!  So we just went to the pool and laid out there, it was like 104 degrees it was amazing (hopefully we can go down there this winter when its 2 degrees outside!).  So we just bummed around a lot is what it comes down to and we had some great talks.  We went shopping one day and went to church with Nicole's grandma who was so super cute!

Basically, we had a really stress-free weekend just talking and hanging out, mostly watching 90210 and doing experiments with mace.

I'm super happy that I went and got to spend some time with some great people! (Thanks Nicole, Tasha, and Michelle)
