Homemade Oreos

One day I decided to make homemade oreos for my coworkers.  They are super easy see the recipe below:

Cooling

Frosting

Yum!

Double Yum!

Homemade Oreos {cookies}
1 devil's food cake mix
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs

Mix the ingredients together.  Roll into dime size balls and place on cooke sheet.  I like to make them more disc like rather than ball shape.  The disc shape makes the cookies easier to put together.  Bake at 350 degrees for ~8 minutes.  Let cool completely before frosting and making sandwiches.

Cream Cheese Frosting
8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 square butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 to 4 c. powdered sugar

Mix ingredients until smooth {all should be at room temperature}.  Chill the mixture for about 30 minutes.  Frost the bottom side of the cookies so that they stay together.

A little late: Christmas time in Utah

This year I decided to make Christmas cookies and take them to work.  We always used to make Christmas cookies with my grandma and its a tradition that I would like to maintain!  It is so festive and also doubles as a great gift...
Regular and tiny sized cookies

All iced and ready to go {notice the college football specific cookies}

My "trashy cookie"

One year we were decorating cookies and one of my cousins or brothers decorated all their cookies with colored sprinkles and man were they ugly.  My grandma said that it was ok because she liked her cookies "a little on the trashy side".  So I made a trashy cookie just for her...

The next few pictures are my apartment all decorated for Christmas
